People often call Block Blast “Tetris without the falling.” That is close, but the two games reward completely different skills. Here is the honest comparison.
The pieces
Tetris gives you one piece at a time, it falls from the top, and you can rotate it. Block Blast gives you three pieces at once, you place them anywhere on the board by dragging, and you cannot rotate them. That single difference changes everything downstream.
Timing and pressure
Tetris is a reflex game — pieces fall faster as you level up and you are always racing the clock. Block Blast’s Classic mode has no timer and no gravity. You can stare at the board for a minute and nothing bad happens. It is a planning game, not a speed game.
How you lose
In Tetris you lose when the stack reaches the top. In Block Blast you lose when none of your three current pieces can fit anywhere — which can happen with the board only half full if you have boxed yourself in.
The core skill
